High Density, Low-Latency Encoding from SDI or ST-2110 for Campus IPTV

By August 25th, 2023 No Comments

campusTVWhat is Campus IPTV and why is it important?

As audiences move to online platforms, the amount of content produced by broadcasters in addition to traditional platforms is ever growing. This content needs to be watched (e.g for confidence monitoring) by producers and other staff, who may be in the field or working from home, usually through a system known as IPTV. As a result, there has been a rapid increase in demand for high density and scalable encoding solutions. This encoding needs to be at a low latency so that production staff can react quickly, while still being compatible with consumer receivers.

Our C-100 and C-200 encoders solve this problem, providing a cost-effective solution for IPTV encoding, with SDI densities of up to 16 channels in 1U. This software solution, based on COTS (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf) hardware allows for easy and rapid scaling, matching the demands of productions.

Encoding from ST-2110 for Campus IPTV

One of the benefits of ST-2110 is the ability to manage and process Uncompressed Video at a much larger scale than SDI. NMOS allows for controlling and routing flows to the right devices in a vendor-neutral fashion.

But video in ST-2110 may not be user-friendly for everyone. For example, VIPs in conference rooms may want to watch behind-the-scenes feeds of productions without understanding the subtleties of ST-2110 routing. They often just want to change the channel on a normal TV.

Our C-200 encoders solve this problem, allowing very dense encoding from ST-2110 (64+ channels in 2U) to MPEG-TS that is viewable on PCs or TVs.

So to conclude:

  • ST-2110 video needs to also be watched in remote locations or conference rooms
  • Our C-200 Encoders allow for very high density encode for Campus IPTV applications with NMOS control
  • VIPs can watch behind-the-scenes content without any knowledge of ST-2110 routing
